How Homeopathy Supported My Son’s Healing
By Jolea Wells, HHP, CHom
With teenage boys in the house, there is never a shortage of action and that includes having our fair share of injuries. I want to share how powerful, yet gentle homeopathy can be in very painful situations. To set the stage, our 15 year old was participating in a motocross race; for those of you not familiar, this is racing dirt bikes. Naturally, it is a dangerous sport, and the risk is always high. This day he crashed hard, throwing him off the bike on the side of the track where he laid unresponsive until his dad rushed over. He came to, but clearly had hit his head. Upon further inspection, his full-face helmet had made contact with his mouth, knocking out one of his permanent teeth and breaking several others. There was also considerable force to his jaw from the chinstrap. After some time, he was cleared to go home.
Immediately, he was given the homeopathic remedy Papaver officinale for the head-injury. Due to the severity, I then alternated the homeopathic remedies Arnica with Natrum sulphuricum. During the drive home it was clear the bleeding from the tooth wasn’t stopping. Arnica didn’t seem to give the right response, so Phosphorus was used. The teeth, jaw, and mouth damage were the source of much pain. Hypericum was very helpful for the nerve pain. Tooth pain can often be hard to get under control, but alternating Hypericum and the Chamomilla took the edge off.
Through all of this, no additional form of pain killers or medications were needed. Homeopathy and ice packs were the only things used to address the pain and support the body’s natural healing process. Through the required reconstructive work and x-rays, homeopathy was also used to keep his vital force strong and speed the healing process.
We don’t want to confuse our cases by throwing homeopathic remedies at symptoms. However, when there are distinct, rapid changes from injuries, and we use the indicated homeopathic remedies, the body is given the stimulus it needs to heal and recover.
