Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex chronic condition that impairs social communication and interaction across multiple contexts. These challenges make creating and maintaining relationships difficult. Additionally, ASD is characterized by restricted and perseverative patterns of behavior, interests and activities. It is sometimes described as a “neuro-behavioral-psychiatric-genetic-gastrointestinal” disorder because there are multiple organ systems and contributing factors that give rise to the “totality of symptoms”.
For this reason, homeopathy is an ideal “fit” because ASD requires a holistic and individualized approach. Starting with Aphorism #71, we need to first understand what “dis-ease” we are treating, and what healing looks like in these patients (vis-a-vis Aphorism #9). We will look at the core deficits of ASD through the lens of our repertory and explore commonly-used remedies helpful in treating ASD. This course will focus on how to work with the parent’s expectations, how to elicit prescribing symptoms (even with non-verbal children), and how to monitor progress in a case.
