The Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC) was formed in response to a new vision for the future of homeopathy in North America as a unified profession of highly trained and certified practitioners.
Incorporated in 1992, the CHC is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization that certifies individuals who meet and maintain recognized professional standards and ethical competence in classical homeopathy. Assisting the general public in choosing appropriately qualified homeopaths, the CHC envisions healthcare systems that include access to certified classical homeopathic practitioners.
The CHC is a member of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) and as such follows the distinction of providing professional certification as a voluntary process by which individuals are evaluated against predetermined standards for knowledge, skills, or competencies. On July 21, 2017, the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) granted accreditation to the Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC), for its Certified Classical Homeopath (CCH) credential, for demonstrating compliance with the NCCA Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs.
NCCA is the accrediting body of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence and was founded in 1977 as a commission whose mission is to help ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the public through the accreditation of a variety of certification programs that assess professional competence. NCCA uses a peer review process to establish accreditation standards, evaluate compliance with these standards, recognize programs that demonstrate compliance, and serve as a resource on quality certification. CHC Exam
Starting in January 2018, US and Canadian students of homeopathy that wish to sit for the exam with The Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC) and be listed as a Certified Classical Homeopath (CCH) on the CHC website must attend schools/programs that have either had their curriculum approved by or are fully accredited by ACHENA.
Completion of 1000-hour professional program in Classical Homeopathy at the Homeopathy School International qualifies students to apply for the certification exam offered by the Council for Homeopathic Certification.
CHC certification
During its history, the CHC has certified more than 1,000 professional homeopaths. CHC certification requires:
- 1000 hours of course work in Classical Homeopathy from an accredited school
- 500 hours (minimum) in the foundations and theory of Classical Homeopathy
- 500 hours (minimum) in clinical work
- Courses in Anatomy and Physiology and Human Pathology (completed independent of HSI courses)
