Why I am a student of Homeopathy

I am excited to embark on this new lifestyle of learning over the next several years and look forward to being able to bring awareness to a better way of health.

Homeopathy is fascinating! I was lucky enough to have been exposed to the wonders of homeopathy 12 years ago when my oldest son was a baby with chronic wheezing. Looking for a better solution than the cookie-cutter answers my pediatrician gave every week, I changed to a holistic pediatrician who didn’t let his ego get in the way of helping his patients. He understood that my precious little baby needed the steroids and breathing treatments in order to breathe, but that it wouldn’t address the root issue. He suggested seeing a homeopathic practitioner. The investment in my first born was worth the time and money. I was baffled that these little white pellets not only helped him overcome his wheezing, but it righted other problems he was experiencing that seemed unrelated to me at the time. Fast-forward 12 years– he has been the healthiest member of our family.

Right from the start of our experience with homeopathy, this mysterious system of actual good health intrigued me to dig into it further one day. The time finally seemed right to take the plunge as a student of homeopathy with Homeopathy International School. It allows me to put my family first while studying more extensively in certain phases of life and less in other phases of life. Adding a scheduled class for myself to my already packed family calendar isn’t a successful school option for me, but choosing my own time block to attend class and study based on each day’s activities is such an innovative way that HSI has allowed someone like me to become a student of homeopathy.

I recently attended a Homeopathy Conference in Connecticut where I was able to listen to some of the top minds in homeopathy present the progress that is making way with the science of homeopathy and research. I was an excited, giddy student when I realized that the author of one of the school books I reference to, Yasgur’s Dictionary, was present and willing to take a photo with me and write a note for my book. I am excited to embark on this new lifestyle of learning over the next several years and look forward to being able to bring awareness to a better way of health. It’s never too late to learn something new!

Jay Yasgur is a pharmacist having received his pharmacy degree from Duquesne University (1976) and his M.Sc. in Allied Health from the University of North Florida (1987). He became interested in the holistic health care field while studying massage in Florida. Later, while associated with a holistic health clinic, he pursued homeopathic studies under the direction of A. J. Trofe, a naprapath. He is a member of several homeopathic organizations including the NCH (National Center for Homeopathy) and the HPCUS (Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Convention of the United States). Yasgur’s Homeopathic Dictionary and Holistic Health Reference, 6th ed. (2021), is a popular and useful reference. He continues to expand his dictionary into encyclopedic proportions: it is now in digital format and is currently three thousand pages in length -a publication date has yet to be determined. However, the 480 page, 6th edition remains in print. www.yasgur.net
